Minister Eric Lamont Blackwell Sr.
Minister Eric Lamont Blackwell Sr. was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pa in the area of
Wilkinsburg. He attended Wilkinsburg High School where his musical interest began. He
lettered in music taking part in the marching band as well as the stage band.
Eric was raised by the late Betty S. Blackwell who instilled strong family values and a
solid spiritual foundation.
When he was 14 years old Eric went to church with his brother to Whosoever Will
Baptist Church, in Lawrenceville, Pa under Rev. Gamble and in the summer of 1975,
Eric accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and savior. He rededicated his life to Christ in
1991, and joined Deliverance Baptist Church in Wilkinsburg under the late Rev. Henry
Miles. Eric was baptized, his family baptized, was married, and started music ministry
there.
Eric was a single parent raising four children up until he met his wife Lisa, and out of
that union GOD has blessed him with two more children. Eric is also a grandfather of
one.
He spent over several years developing his directing skills as Youth Choir director at
Deliverance Baptist Church and also as an organist and drummer.
Eric has held the position as Minister of Music at Second Baptist Church of Penn Hills
under Rev. Mac Gray, Pastor, for over seven years and in 2008 he accepted the Minister
of Music position at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Rankin, Pa under Rev. Wanda L.
Sawyer, Senior Pastor.
The scriptures have birthed a passion in him to meet the spiritual needs of the
communities that surround him. Eric has spearheaded this effort to impact the area by
organizing a benefit concert for Sickle Cell in May 2005, participating in several
outreach services, Founding Faithful Ministries a community outreach ministry, serving
as board member of the Children’s Sickle Cell Foundation, and encouraging people to
Christ through his gift of music ministry.
Eric Blackwell & Faithful was founded by Eric Blackwell in November of 2005 by the
inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Eric Blackwell is the director of this diverse gospel
recording group. The group consists of members from several Pittsburgh area churches
where they are active in ministry. Eric has also started ministries to help other ministries,
such as ELB Web Design and Blackwell Soundz Christian Pro Audio and DJ services
both bringing low cost alternatives for ministries.
He has been playing drums for over twenty five years and has been playing keyboards in
Music Ministry for over fifteen years. He also writes and arranges music for other local
gospel artists.
He has dedicated his life to spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ through the word of
GOD and the ministry of music.
Eric Blackwell was licensed to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ on June 17th, 2007.
